How to Build a Research Portfolio

I’m a recent biology graduate and really eager to dive into the field by finding internships that can help me build a solid research portfolio. I’ve been searching for opportunities but feel a bit lost on where to start — any advice on where to look or how to approach potential mentors would be amazing.

Networking can really boost your search for internships. I reached out to my professors and asked if they knew of any opportunities; that’s how I landed my first paid position in a lab. Don’t hesitate to leverage your university’s career resources or reach out to alumni in the field — it could open doors for you.

I totally get feeling lost! Reaching out to labs directly can lead to internships. I found my first one through a simple email to a professor — they appreciate the initiative.
