Utilizing sonar for marine data collection

I recently attended a workshop on using sonar technology for mapping underwater ecosystems, and it blew my mind. The resolution and detail we can get from these tools really enhance our biodiversity research efforts. Has anyone else had experiences with sonar applications in their work? Sonar’s detail really does take biodiversity research to the next level. I’ve used side-scan sonar for habitat mapping, and while it’s impressive, it can get costly and complex with data interpretation. How did you handle the data analysis after your workshop?

I’ve found that integrating sonar data with GIS tools really enhances the analysis, allowing for better visualization of habitats.
